At one point NJ dropped subway cars as an acceptable reef material. However further study led to the reinstatement of subway cars as reef material. They seem to become very stable reef structures.

 

New Jersey holds 15 reef permits. they are located to provide easy access to at least 1 reef from each of New Jersey's 12 inlets.There are also 2 shared reef sites shared with Delaware and Maryland. they are the Del-Jerseyland sites, inshore and offshore.
